Ingredient
Chamomile Powder
Matricaria chamomilla
Benefits
Natural
Native to Europe, Matricaria chamomilla (also known as German chamomile or Matricaria recutita) blooms fragrant, daisy-like flowers throughout the summer.
Where do we get it?
Lush purchases flowers (fresh and dried) from multiple suppliers who source them from different countries around the world depending on species, season and availability. They must comply with Lush's buying policy which encourages growers to move away from the use of hazardous pesticides. Periodic, case-by-case spot checks are also performed to detect pesticide residues on the ingredients entering our factories.
What are the benefits of German chamomile powder?
- Soothes the skin and scalp.
- Helps create a strawberry blonde hair colour when combined with the right ingredients.
Chamomile flowers contain a yellow colouring matter called apigenin, which weakly dyes the hair with golden hues. It is particularly appreciated for making blonde hair shine. However, applying the powder is not enough to achieve this effect. It must be moistened and left on the hair for a long time, like a mask.
