Ingredient
Cornflowers
Centaurea Cyanus
Benefits
Natural
Rehydrating when infused in warm water, dried cornflowers are thought to be astringent and soothing for the skin and scalp. Their beautiful natural blue colour persists even when the flower is dried, making it also a nice decorative finish for naked products.
Cornflower, also known as bluebottle, is a tall, slender, annual plant with long and fine, grey-green leaves. In the summer it grows bright blue flowers, but occasionally they can be white, pink, or purple. It is often found in cornfields and waste ground in Europe and western Asia.
The flower is part of the genus Centaurea (also known as knapweed) which name comes from the legendary centaur Chiron, famed for his knowledge of herbs.
