Ingredient
Orange Peel Wax
Citrus aurantium dulcis
Benefits
Natural
Obtained from orange peels, this wax shares its colour, uplifting scent, and antimicrobial qualities with the juicy fruit. It is considered a good vegan alternative to lanolin as it has similar emollient, moisturising and emulsifying properties, with a lightweight feel.
Sweet orange trees have glossy, evergreen leaves and thorny branches. They thrive under sunny climates and grow fragrant flowers that, once pollinated, turn into the popular orange-coloured fruit.
This scented ingredient is produced in Florida for an American-Dutch supplier specialising in natural waxes. Once the oranges are squeezed by the juice industry, their leftovers are collected to extract various useful materials like pulp, essential oils and wax, thus avoiding wastage.
Tests have been carried out to ensure that this wax has no phototoxic potential, a reaction that is sometimes encountered with citrus fruits' extracts.
