Brazil nut oil has a strong affinity with human sebum and is therefore easily absorbed by the skin and scalp. It is an important source of unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, selenium, squalene and phytosterols; all beneficial for the skin and hair. In short, it moisturises, protects and gives a gorgeous glow.

Brazil nuts are so rich in oil that they will burn like a candle if lit. They are the edible seeds of a South American tree, which grows in the Amazon rainforest. The Brazil nut trees are of great commercial importance to the local people there, and a vital part of the forest’s ecosystem.

Lush purchase this organic oil from an NGO and social enterprise that works with small-scale nut gatherers with concessions in the rainforest. The nuts are collected after they drop to the ground and the harvest areas are changed every year, so as not to interfere too much with nature’s cycles. Once regrouped, the organic nuts are pressed for their oil in Peru.
